MATTMAN's ISDN Experience
I've been contemplating ISDN for about a year now. Ever since I got into the
Internet scene. We ran it out of our office and I loved the speed. But I was
running on a 28,800 modem, so of course I would notice the difference. About a
month later I broke down and purchased a 56K modem. After reading all the
complaints about 56K not living up to it's promise, I was kind of reluctant. I
figured I had a good change since I lived down the street from the telephone
company's central office. I made a pretty good guess when I connected at 53,333!
But after a few months, even that wasn't fast enough.
The promise of xDSL and cable modems was in the future. I was hoping for a
shot with this new in home broadband service. But after B.S.ing with my
BellSouth rep, I was going to be driving an electric car before these services
were coming to my town. So my thoughts shifted back to ISDN. Fortunately for me,
Tennessee has the lowest ISDN rates in the country. Best of all there are no
limited hours. So I called the 800 number and placed my order.
Special note:
A new ISP has just opened in
Clarksville, Tennessee. Syberwerx.Net.
The ISDN is the lowest priced in town at $29.95 for 128Kbps and $16.95 for
64Kbps. That is also for unlimited access. I'm pretty sure everyone else in town
is $39.95 or more. When I found these guys I immediately switched service. Other
ISP's may tell you that they have superior equipment and these guys are cheap,
but I was downloading at 8KB per second on a single 64K channel. Give them a
call
(931) 431-3153.
Tell them MATTMAN sent you.
