Part 8 - The Router Hookup

Now it's time to hookup my wires and hope the Ma'Bell installed the ISDN line correctly. I've heard a lot of horror stories.
Here's what I want to do with my ISDN line:

1) Surf the web. Of course, this is the whole point of ISDN. A faster connection speed.

2) Fax line. ISDN is actually two phone lines. They gave me two phone numbers, I bond these two lines to get my 128K connection. So why not use the second line as a fax line. I don't want to throw away my modem. I paid good money for it and you never know when you might need a modem. So for now I'll use my modem as a fax machine.

3) Phone Line. To the first ISDN phone line I'll hook a phone up. Incase I want to talk on the phone.

The thing I really liked about this ISDN router is that it has POTS ports (Plain Old Telephone Service). With ISDN you need a special ISDN phone, which can be very expensive. But the router takes care of the need for an ISDN phone by allowing you to hook a regular phone to it. And for you computer savvy people out there, Yes if you hook a modem to it you will get a true 56K connection, but what's the point if you have an ISDN router.
